BusesPublic transportation is a godsend when you’re travelling around a foreign city. When you need to get here or there, it helps to be near buses, taxis and the likes. But for large groups, however, doing so is not always a practical choice.

Hiring buses for large group tours is common in Sydney. There are different types of buses to choose from, depending on the size of your group and your preference. If you do not know which to choose, here is a guide to the most common tour bus choices.

Different types of buses

For Concord Coaches, provider of luxury coaches, buses remain the go-to vehicle for large group travels. But which is the right vehicle for you and your group?

Charter buses, also known as tourist or coach buses, are commonly used by large groups consisting of around 45-57 passengers. It almost always comes with its own bathroom and is equipped with entertainment systems like DVD player, PA systems and other entertainment tools making it a great choice for long trips.

This type of bus is usually used to transport people in shorter distances like from the airport to the hotel and vice versa. It holds at most 40 passengers and does not have its own toilet but is equipped with its own PA system and very comfortable seats.

Party/Limo Bus

Designed purely for partying, a party or limo bus is the same size with a mini bus and has its own entertainment systems, bar area and other forms of entertainment (such as dancing poles) for the ultimate party experience. Keep in mind, however, that due to the design of such buses, visibility for sight seeing may be limited.

Double Decker Bus

Cities usually use double decker buses for their city tours. If you are not interested in riding the public version, you can rent a whole bus exclusively for your group. Some double deckers, however, do not come with washrooms. Always ask about these first before you book a ride to ensure passengers are comfortable.

These are just some of the most common types of buses that are usually for hire. If you have other preferences, contact your bus hiring company for a complete list of vehicles you can choose from.
