Top fashion designer Ralph Lauren can add another trophy to his collection, and this time it’s not for his clothing line. Lauren’s Atlantic won the top award at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza at Italy’s Villa d’Este, the world’s most exclusive car show.
An avid car collector, the fashion designer has one of only four 57SC Atlantics in existence, and one of only two with a well-documented history. Both of the well-documented vehicles now represent the pinnacle of collectible cars in the world, with the other Atlantic winning the top prize at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance a couple of years back.
The Concorso d’Eleganza always draws some of the world’s most stunning cars ever made to the shores of Lake Como in Italy. The entries are limited only to 50, making it one of the most exclusive. This year’s entries ranges from the 1928 Mercedes Benz 680S Saoutchik roadster, which won the top prize at Pebble Beach last year, to the bizarre 1978 Lancia Silibo, a concept car based on the Stratos and famed for the window designs that flow seamlessly into the body.
The auto show’s other prize goes to the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Touring, a modern concept car that resembles a re-bodied version of the Alfa 8C.
